Kasikasima Expedition 8-days

Day 01
Departure by plane from Paramaribo (approx. 1.15 hour) to Palumeu. In the afternoon, a boat trip to Palawa island. On return to Palumeu, a visit to the Amerindian village Palumeu. After dinner, you will receive instructions on the trip to Mount Kasikasima.

Day 02
Early morning, departure by dug-out canoe to Kamakabari, the first overnight location in the jungle. Depending on the water level, this trip will take 3 to 7 hours. Underway, a stop will be made for lunch. Overnight in hammocks in the jungle.

Day 03
After breakfast, departure to Trombaka sula. At the rapids, cross over on foot on the banks of the river and step over into another boat after which the trip will be continued to the base camp. In the evening, further instructions concerning the climb to one of the mountain peaks.

Day 04
Climb to one of the peaks of Mount Kasikasima. This trip takes approximately 7 hours, to and from the peak at which approx. one hour will be spend on the plateau. You will enjoy the magnificent view on th eunspoilt Amazon rainforest underneath. Lunch will be on location. In the afternoon, return to base camp. After dinner, enjoy a campfire under the starry sky.

Day 05
After breakfast, a walk to the Kodebaku sula with an explanation about the flora and fauna. After lunch, time free for your own activities. For those who are interested, opportunity to go fishing with the local guides. At night a boat trip to spot caymans.

Day 06
Return trip by dug-out canoe to Palumeu, with stops for picnic-lunch and peddling the dug-out canoe without using the outboard motor.

Day 07
This day is free for your own activities such as swimming, fishing, bow and arrow shooting, walking around or relaxing in hammocks.

Day 08
After breakfast, a walk trough the Amerindian village Palumeu with the local guide. Opportunity to purchase Amerindian arts and crafts. In the afternoon, return flight.
